Hi everyone, V here! I’m so excited to welcome Monette Michaels to the blog today! Moni shares my love of science fiction, and is a fellow sci-fi romance author with Liquid Silver Books. I’m thrilled to have her here today to talk about Prime Selection, book two in the Prime Chronicles. Please comment on this post for an opportunity to win a copy of Prime Obsession, book one in the series! Welcome Monette!
I’m a geek. Yes, I admit it.
I was a science major (and an English major) in college, but my geekiness was firmly entrenched long before my college years.
I have fond memories of Thursday nights in front of the television with my Chemistry or Physics or Latin books on my lap. Homework would be shuttled aside for an hour while I got beamed onto the Starship Enterprise and went boldly into the universe with the crew. I loved Star Trek – I often imagined myself mind-melding with Spock and being the one woman in the universe who could make him smile.
Of course, all popular shows, and Star Trek was popular, had their imitators and soon I had Battlestar Galactica, the original where Starbuck was a guy (Dirk Benedict, dreamy Dirk). I am sure the male sci-fi nerds didn’t like Battlestar Galactica as much since there was a hint of – gasp – romance in the show, but this girl geek sure did.
And then the phenomena that was Star Wars came along – I was a college geek by then, dating a geek who is now my husband. I can still remember the date when he took me to see Star Wars. By the time the Empire struck back, we were married.
So, you would think when I finally found my writing muse I would write about outer space, aliens, and the brave and sexy humans that dared to go into the unknown? Nope, by then I had discovered romantic suspense and my first forays into writing were in that genre.
It took meeting Linnea Sinclair, first online in a writers group, and then later in person since we were published by the same Canadian publishing company, to relight my interest in science fiction. Her science fiction books with a romance between the hero and the heroine sparked my geek side and, thus, my Prime Chronicles trilogy arose.
And that is how this geek came to write science fiction romance.
My second book in the Prime Chronicles Trilogy just came out at the end of October and is available for sale at most online retail outlets and at my publisher, Liquid Silver Books.
Here is the blurb:
Commander Nadia Petrovich, Science Officer of the Alliance Starship Galanti, has a problem—which has nothing to do with science. Her problem is Commander Huw Caradoc, the Galanti’s Chief Engineer. She and the stubborn Prime male have a growing connection he refuses to acknowledge—a bond that could drive him mad.
They are connected psychically and the bond grows stronger every day. If Nadia didn’t know it was impossible, she would suspect they were mating in the Prime tradition—a biological imperative that locates and marks a Prime’s optimum mate. But she isn’t Prime, as Huw tells her and anybody who’ll listen.
Nadia’s emotional anguish couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Prime and Galactic Alliance merger is finally under way, and the all-male Prime crews are learning how to work with female Alliance crew members. The Antareans threaten the outer arms of the Milky Way, and Prime rebels wreak havoc on the Prime home planet and elsewhere.
Despite the conflict surrounding them, Nadia and Huw will not be able to avoid their fate or their growing love. Prime selection will make the decision for them whether the timing is right or not.
