Writing these release day posts is always a little emotional for me. Release days are exciting, fun, a little scary. It’s not quite as scary as putting your kindergartner on the school bus for the first time (an experience I had last year with the twins!), but it’s the same type of emotion–letting something you love out into the wider world.
I’m not going to lie–I’m fiercely proud of this book. I learned more about the craft of writing working on THIS book, than on any other I’ve written. I worked my ass off. My editors worked their asses off. L.C. Chase created a gorgeous, vibrant cover that really captures the summer love feel of the story. This book made me cry while I was writing it. It made me laugh a lot too. If any book I’ve written has changed me–it’s this one.
A year ago, I was writing Double Up, and I was talking like Ben, thinking like Ben, and drinking Monster energy drinks like I’d die without them. Today, I’m having a Monster to celebrate (I swear, I can quit anytime), and sending Ben and Dave out into the world with a smile.
